Doran Grant is a St. Vincent-St. Mary High School legend, but the Akron native who had his football jersey number retired by the school in June is also out as the head coach of the Fighting Irish .

STVM moved on from Grant after his second season in charge of its program, the school's leadership announced Oct. 30 in a letter obtained by the Beacon Journal.

As STVM searches for Grant's replacement, Gary Shadie will serve as interim football coach. Shadie has been a STVM assistant coach for more than 12 years and also serves as the school's dean of student accountability and safety.
