Police have taken a Stonington High School student into custody after responding to the school to investigate a report of a student with a gun, according to the Stonington Police Department.

They said they took the student into custody after an initial investigation and that investigation is ongoing.

A post on the town’s Facebook page says everyone is safe and secure.

The school was in lockdown and the lockdown protocol has been downgraded to a classroom hold after police gave the all-clear, according to the town’s social media post.

Stonington Police said other police departments are assisting them by providing mutual aid.
