Plans to renovate, upgrade or improve Chianese Park have been put on hold.

According to Barrington Department of Public Works Project Manager Brock Handy, the town has “fully tabled” any possible work at Chianese Field. During the Oct. 23 Barrington Park and Recreation Commission meeting, Handy said the town’s on-call engineering firm was no longer working on a new plan for the park.

That news may have surprised commission chairman Mike Seward. Earlier in the meeting, Seward said Pare Engineering had been hired by the town to create a new plan for Chianese. Seward added that a meeting would be held discussing the park with stakeholders, although he did not yet have a date for the meeting.
