A report from the National Weather Service was issued on Thursday at 11:55 a.m. for strong thunderstorms until 12:30 p.m. for Delaware and Sullivan counties.

Residents can anticipate wind gusts of up to 50 mph.

"At 11:55 a.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm over Greeley, or 14 miles northwest of Montague, moving north at 70 mph," comments the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects."

Locations impacted by the alert include Rockland, Lackawaxen, Liberty, Bethel, Damascus, Callicoon, Shohola, Tusten, Cochecton and Fremont.

The weather service adds, "If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building."
