As the federal government shutdown continues and SNAP food benefits set to lapse on Saturday, The Rochester Salvation Army is showing its impact with a stark photo.
In a Facebook post, the nonprofit organization shared a photo of their food pantry, showing shelves there were almost completely empty on Tuesday afternoon.
“With the exception of several bags of cereal, the shelves have been cleaned out by visitors needing the food shelf today," wrote the Rochester Salvation Army in the social media post.
"With the government shut down, and the possibility of SNAP benefits not being distributed next month, food donations for our food shelf are making a significant impact!"
