Marcus Jones had an October to remember and was rewarded for it on Thursday by the NFL.
The Patriots ’ shutdown cornerback and All-Pro punt returner was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month. It is the first Player of the Month honor for the Patriots since 2021 when J.C. Jackson earned it in November.
Jones’ eight passes defended in October were the most in the NFL. He also amassed 20 tackles, one sack and two interceptions in New England’s four games in October.
Aside from earning AFC Player of the Month, Jones also signed a three-year extension with the Patriots on Tuesday.
The versatile 2022 second-round pick entered the NFL as a punt returner but boasted the ability to play cornerback. Now in 2025, Jones’ defense has been on full display.
