PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Rhode Island's Cold Case Unit has solved the murders of two women.
The R.I. Attorney General's Office released the investigative reports for the victims — Cynthia McKenna and Debra Stone — Wednesday morning.
Attorney General Peter Neronha held a news conference to announce the results of the investigations alongside detectives from North Providence and Narragansett.
"In 2023, when I sought funding to launch a Cold Case Unit, my mission was simple — deliver long-awaited answers for victims seemingly forgotten by time and for families who never gave up hope," Neronha said. "Since then, through the incredible work of our Cold Case Unit and law enforcement collaborators, we have made significant progress in doing just that."
