YORK, Maine — A York Police Department police dog located a missing 79-year-old man early Thursday morning after he was reported missing overnight, police said.
According to a statement from Sgt. Jon Rogers, who handled the search with his K9 partner Günther, officers were called to the man’s home around 4 a.m. after learning he had not been seen since about 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Police said the man suffers from cognitive impairment.
Rogers deployed police dog Günther to search the area near the man’s residence. After about 30 minutes, Günther began to show signs that he had picked up the man’s scent and led Rogers and Cpl. Mills directly to the missing man, who was found on the ground but unharmed.
