SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) -- A Windber woman is facing over forty identity theft charges after allegedly forging signatures on her nomination petition for Magisterial District Judge.
Amy Thomas, 40, was charged after Pennsylvania State Police opened an investigation into Thomas upon receiving information that her nomination petition contained forged signatures. Thomas's opponent in the election had filed objections to the nomination in March, alleging that some of the electors stated they did not sign petitions for Thomas, according to the criminal complaint.
On March 20, a hearing concerning the objections was held, and Thomas ultimately withdrew many of the signatures that were objected to. On March 24, troopers contacted the Somerset Court Registrar and Elections Director and reques
