India has said that it is studying the implications of the recent US sanctions on Russian oil companies and will continue to be guided by its energy security needs even as US President Donald Trump said Delhi has been “very good” on the issue of Russian oil.
“We are studying the implications of the recent US sanctions on Russian oil companies. Our decisions naturally take into account the evolving dynamics of the global market,” External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said responding to questions on how India would react to the sanctions.
India’s position on the larger question of energy sourcing is well known, he said. “In this endeavour, we are guided by the imperative to secure affordable energy from diverse sources to meet the energy security needs of our 1.4 billion people,” J
