RALEIGH, N.C. (News Release) – Nearly 1.4 million North Carolinians — including 600,000 children, working parents, and seniors — could lose the grocery money they rely on as soon as Saturday, November 1. Attorney General Jeff Jackson has joined the multistate lawsuit to protect families across North Carolina and stop food aid from being cut off.

The lawsuit, led by 25 states and three governors, challenges the Trump administration’s decision to block emergency funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) during the shutdown. It argues that the administration’s refusal to use a $5 billion contingency fund “violates federal law” and amounts to a “deliberate, illegal, and inhumane choice.”
