LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The NCAA has penalized Central Michigan University and four former football coaches for their roles in the Connor Stalions sign-stealing scandal. The university was handed a two-year probation and was fined $30,000, plus 1% of the total football budget.
The NCAA reports that CMU and the four coaches reached an agreement on Thursday with the enforcement staff regarding violations in connection with the Stalions scandal.
According to the NCAA report, the violations occurred when assistant football coach Jake Kostner, who had a preexisting relationship with Stalions, arranged for the University of Michigan staffer to be on the CMU sideline during a game against Michigan State University in 2023.
