The NCAA has handed out penalties to the Central Michigan football program and former staff members stemming from the Connor Stalions sign-stealing scandal .
According to the NCAA , former Chippewas assistant coach Jake Kostner arranged for Stalions to be on the Central Michigan sideline during a game against Michigan State in 2023.
Kostner asked a member of the CMU equipment staff, Nate Mason, for coaching-issued gear, per the NCAA. Former Director of Recruiting Mike McGee then provided official gear and bench pass access to Connor Stalions.
The NCAA says that Mason was not aware that the items were for Stalions but he did know that they were for “a friend of Kostner’s who was skilled in deciphering signals.” Connor Stalions stood near members of the Central Michigan staff during th
