EVERETT — The Washington Department of Ecology is encouraging public input on its latest chapters of the agency’s Voluntary Clean Water Guidance for Agriculture guidance resource.

The technical guidance outlines best management practices for agriculturalists to use to protect water quality. Chapters now available for comment focus on controlling and treating pollution, including minimizing runoff, managing fertilizers and pesticides, efficiently irrigating and controlling drainage.

While creating the guidance, the Department of Ecology has collaborated with representatives from other state agencies, conservation districts, tribes and environmental organizations.

A webinar will cover the chapter creation process and an overview of covered practices at 10 a.m. on Nov. 5..
