On Thursday at 2:45 p.m. a wind advisory was released by the National Weather Service valid from Friday noon until Saturday midnight for Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens as well as Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Westchester, Suffolk and Nassau counties.
The weather service adds, "West winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts 40 to 45 mph expected."
"Gusty winds will blow around Halloween decorations and other unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result," explains the weather service. "Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects."
