FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The VA Northern Indiana Health Care System is seeking support from the community.

According to the health care system, there is currently a need for non-perishable food items among those who have served the country and now require assistance.

To meet the need, the health care system says it will now be accepting donations throughout northeast Indiana.

“Contributions from the community will make a significant difference in the lives of many veterans and their families in the area during this challenging time of reduction of public programs,” the health care system said.

Requested items include:

Canned/Foil Pack Tuna, Salmon, Chicken, or Beef

Pasta and Pasta Sauce/Ramen Noodle Packages

Pork and Beans/Can Beans

Canned Chili or Stew

Canned Pasta

Tuna, Chicke
