MITCHELL — Burris Elementary School is collecting kid-friendly, non-perishable food items for its 2025 Bluejacket Blessings Food Drive from October 27 through November 7. Donations will stock the Bluejacket Blessings Closet and will be sent home with students who may need extra food over the weekend.

Items requested include Slim Jims or other jerky sticks, breakfast bars, Pop-Tarts, fruit cups or applesauce cups, granola bars, fruit snacks, cheese or peanut butter cracker packs, and individually wrapped snack-size bags of crackers such as Goldfish, Cheez-Its, or pretzels. The items are selected to be easy to pack into student backpacks and simple for children to eat independently.
