STURGEON BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - The 50th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald, which killed all 29 people aboard, is just over a week away on November 10.

The Door County Maritime Museum is honoring some of the victims with an exhibit to showcase the local connection, as two of the people aboard were Sturgeon Bay natives.

"We wanted to put an exhibit together referencing and building from that we have a community connection to this," Door County Maritime Museum President & CEO Kevin Osgood said. "It is just not another museum doing something on the sinking of the ship; we have a connection and a responsibility to tell their story, and we take that very seriously."
