OXFORD, Miss. (WMC/WLBT) - The FBI arrested multiple law enforcement officials in the Mississippi Delta. The agency is set to hold a press conference regarding the “Drug Trafficking Takedown” in Oxford on Thursday afternoon.
The chief deputy of the Sunflower County Sheriff’s Department was reportedly one of those arrested. Sunflower County Sheriff James Haywood confirmed the arrest of Marvin Flowers on Thursday morning.
The Belzoni Banner is reporting that the Humphreys County sheriff, as well as an ex-chief deputy, have also been taken into custody.
Charges are not known at this time.
The United States Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Mississippi will be hosting a joint press conference with the FBI on Thursday at 4 p.m.
