LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — President Donald Trump appeared to suggest the U.S. will resume testing nuclear weapons for the first time in three decades, reopening a chapter of Nevada history that leaders want to remain closed.

Democratic Nevada Sen. Jacky Rosen responded, "Not on my watch," during an exchange at a confirmation hearing for a Trump appointment for the Commander of U.S. Strategic Command.

As officials begin the task of sorting out exactly what Trump's order means, Rosen said the current method of guaranteeing the military effectiveness of the U.S. nuclear stockpile is working. She said there's no evidence that the U.S. needs to do more.
