NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - More than 600,000 Kentuckians could see their SNAP benefits cut in two days as the federal government shutdown continues, but local businesses are stepping up to help fill the gap.
Luna’s Coffee, Wine, and Butterfly Cafe in Nicholasville has committed to donating one dollar to God’s Pantry Food Bank for every meal they sell.
WKYT previously reported that the food bank is prepared to serve as a safety net during this time of uncertainty, but relies on donations to meet the additional needs.
According to the God’s Pantry Food Bank website , each dollar donated creates six meals.
“Our community does a lot for us; we have great regulars, a lot of people take care of us here, so we want to give that back and take care of everybody else that we can,” said bari
