BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The United Cajun Navy has deployed personnel to Jamaica to assist with search and rescue operations following Hurricane Melissa, with plans to send additional teams and supplies in the coming days.

Brian Trascher, national vice president of the United Cajun Navy, said the organization is coordinating relief efforts as the island faces significant damage and accessibility challenges.

“Jamaica is going to have a serious food security problem for a time being,” Trascher said.
