JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On Nov. 2, we turn back the clocks as daylight saving time comes to an end . With that change comes new restrictions on watering schedules for your lawn.
On Sunday, the St. Johns River Water Management District will begin restricting waterings from twice a week to just once per week in an effort to conserve water.
According to the district, public water supply is the largest use of water over its 18 counties, adding up to about 626 million gallons each day. More than half of that is used on landscape maintenance.
As the days shorten and weather cools, grass and landscapes require less water to thrive. Aside from being a waste, overwatering can also lead to mold and root rot, killing the greenery even more.
