LOUISIANA (KTAL/KMSS) — The Louisiana Supreme Court is creating an online portal so that domestic violence survivors can request a civil protection order.
The initiative is part of Louisiana's ongoing efforts to combat domestic violence. According to a press release, the portal will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Once a testing phase is complete, applicants will be able to apply for a protective order online.
“Together with our funding partners in the Legislature, we are simplifying the protective order process, which improves access to justice for those who have been victimized by domestic violence. Domestic violence is far too prevalent in Louisiana, and the judiciary must continue to reduce barriers and increase access to the court system,” said Louisiana Supreme Cour
