FORT RILEY, Kan. (KSNT) - Federal officials have indicted a member of the National Guard, saying he agreed to take photos of Fort Riley on behalf of a purported Russian intelligence agent and ship a helicopter radio overseas.

The Department of Justice said in a press release that law enforcement arrested 28-year-old Canyon A. Amarys of Alamogordo, New Mexico, on Tuesday in connection with his indictment for an attempted violation of the Export Control Reform Act. His indictment stems from his alleged involvement with a Russian intelligence agent earlier this year.

Amarys made his first appearance in federal court in the District of Kansas on Thursday.
