BAZETTA, Ohio (WKBN) -- Fire prevention month is coming to an end. Even so, the Bazetta Fire Department is reminding people in the township it has smoke detectors and bedside fire alarms available to anyone who needs them.
Time matters in an emergency. It's why firefighters stress the importance of smoke detectors.
"It is proven that smoke detectors save lives. Fire doubles in size every minute," said firefighter Rob Wasser.
The bedside fire alarm is another tool to help alert those who are hearing impaired of a fire when they're asleep.
"This is actually going to go under your mattress and above your boxspring," Wasser said.
It's activated by traditional smoke detectors.
