The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood statement at 5:01 p.m. on Thursday valid for Friday between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. for Suffolk County.
"1 foot or less of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline," says the weather service. "Another round of minor coastal flooding is likely during high tide early Friday morning."
According to the weather service, "If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property."
