TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Defense attorneys for Alicia Andrews on Thursday worked to distance her from a group accused in the shooting death of Charles Jones, arguing there is no direct evidence that she helped plan the killing.
Prosecutors said Jones was stalked and shot outside a Tampa hotel in June 2024. Andrews is charged with first-degree murder in the case, though she did not fire a weapon. Investigators allege her boyfriend, Isaiah Chance, and three others carried out the shooting.
In court, the defense said Andrews was not present when weapons were packed, was not communicating with the group about the shooting and was not with them when they tracked Jones. They also told jurors Andrews had limited contact with the co-defendants beyond Chance.
