SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -“We were actually thinking about this glean before I realized that the snap benefits were up, and that’s why I’m really happy that they’re coming,” said Dan Bigbee, owner of Fassnight Creek Farms.

This partnership between Fassnight Creek Farms and Ozarks Food Harvest, a food pantry serving the area, has been ongoing for years. Like many local farmers, Bigbee’s crops faced significant challenges this year. Weeks without rain and excessive heat resulted in fewer crops for the main fall harvest.

“This year has not been the best year for me, and I’m ready to put it in the books and finish up,” said Bigbee. However, in an unexpected turn of events, the severe drought caused many crops to mature later than usual, perfectly aligning with the glean.
