DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) -- A date is now set for when a Macon County judge will rule on a motion that could turn an infamous Decatur murder case on its head. It's part of the fight to prove the innocence of the people convicted of that crime.
Lawyers from the Illinois Attorney General's Office, Macon County State's Attorney's office and the Illinois Innocence Project were in court on Thursday for a hearing in the case of the Slover family -- Michael Sr., Michael Jr. and Jeanette. The Slovers were convicted in 2002 of murdering Michael Jr.'s ex-wife Karyn, whose dismembered remains were found in Lake Shelbyville six years earlier.
During Thursday's hearing, the parties agreed to continue proceedings to Jan. 22, 2026. Judge Rodney Forbes will hear arguments from both sides on why he should or
