MAHOMET, Ill. (WCIA) - Mahomet-Seymour football is hosting Marion on Saturday for an opening round 5A playoff game.
The matchup comes with an interesting twist.
Walter Skeate is an assistant coach for Marion. He played football for the Bulldogs, playing offensive and defensive line. He was good enough to be voted into the program's 'Blue Dot Society.' Skeate is one of few players to earn that honor despite not spending all four years of high school in Mahomet. He moved there as a sophomore./
"It is still very special to me," he said. "I had some very good years in Mahomet. I still keep in touch with my head coach... All week long I've been getting text messages from my buddies... It's very special."
It won't be the first time he coached against the school he attended. Marion and MSHS m
