WOOLWICH – When Cole DeNick gets down to business, the end zone becomes his office.
The junior was a workhorse rushing a career-best 30 times for 142 yards and the decisive touchdown to power the Kingsway Regional High School football team to a 23-14 win over Eastern Thursday night in the South Jersey Group 5 playoffs.
The third-seeded Dragons (8-2) will await Friday’s Williamstown/Southern game for a semifinal game.
Already known as a punishing player from his linebacker spot, DeNick has brought the same physical skills to running the football. He’s rushed for 19 touchdowns, including 12 in the last four weeks. Overall, he has 24 total TDs, including a pick-6.
On Mischief Night, there was nothing mischievous about Kingsway’s approach in the second half. It was pure power football.
