LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - With Halloween less than a day away, law enforcement officials are urging parents to use a key safety tool before heading out for trick-or-treating.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) offers a sex offender registry map on its website that allows families to identify which homes or areas to avoid during Halloween celebrations. The registry shows the names and addresses of registered sex offenders and displays risk levels ranging from low to high for each offender.
“It’s very user friendly to use, you just go to the Texas DPS website and once you’re on the website, on the search you just put the sex registry map, and once you enter ‘go’ on the map, then you’ll go ahead and be able to see all the community members who are registered as sex offenders,” said Ser
