KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A man is in custody after a shooting in Kalamazoo on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS), around 1 p.m., officers responded to the area of Summit Avenue and Douglas Avenue for a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a 53-year-old man with non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Police said the suspect, a 51-year-old Kalamazoo man, was taken into custody around 3:15 p.m.
The suspect is being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail and is facing multiple charges, including assault with intent to murder, weapons offenses, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and a probation detainer.
KDPS said he's expected to be formally charged and arraigned on Friday.
