Two men have been fined after they were caught on video throwing buckets of paint into Noons Creek earlier this week, the City of Coquitlam says.
A resident captured security footage of the men polluting the waterway, which flows through Port Moody and Coquitlam and contains a fish hatchery.
“As a result [of the video, which has been circulating on social media], our City team was able to identify those responsible and we will be able to issue multiple fines for these offences,” said Jaime Boan, general manager of engineering and public works.
“The buckets have been removed, and we are relieved to say we found no evidence of paint contamination in this important fish habitat.”
The Coquitlam RCMP confirms it received a report about the incident on Tuesday, the day after it happened.
