LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg announced a new step in the city's efforts to address mental health, substance use recovery and homelessness.

He launched a new Office of Behavioral Health.

The office will serve as a central hub, coordinating behavioral health, public safety and house efforts across the Metro.

Greenberg said the office will expand permanent supportive housing and improve crisis response so people in need receive care, not incarceration.

Permanent supportive housing combines affordable housing assistance and voluntary support services to help chronically houseless people, according to the National Alliance to End Homelessness.
