BIG COUNTRY (KTAB/KRBC) - Over the last couple of weeks, drought improvements seemed impossible due to the lack of rain in the forecast and the overall dry conditions across the Big Country.
However, a cold front moved through last Friday night, bringing the potential for severe weather. While we didn’t see many severe storms thanks to cooler temperatures that stuck around throughout the day, we still saw a decent amount of rain, which has given a bit of hope for drought improvements.
Recapping last week’s drought monitor, the Big Country saw worsening conditions with moderate drought expanding and severe drought popping up across some of our southern and Heartland counties. These conditions have led to several impacts, including elevated fire weather concerns.
