MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Most Smiles Behind the Shield nominations are sent to News 5 by email, and we pick the award winners from there, but this month, it was the Mobile County Sheriff's Office that got the message. And it wasn't a complaint, it was a thank you.

A group of folks from Mississippi were stranded along Highway 45 back in September because of a bad transmission. They emailed the Sheriff's Office to share how Sergeant Tim Anderson stepped in to help them on that hot afternoon.

Part of that email read: "We were having great difficulty getting a wrecker and a ride to come where we were and it was getting closer to dark. Sergeant Anderson brought us water and waited with us and the vehicle until a wrecker, we found through a friend, finally arrived."
