SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - The Manatee County Tiger Bay Club held a meeting Thursday to discuss the affordable housing crisis on the Suncoast.
The panel of speakers consisted of representatives for One Stop Housing, Goodwill of Manasota, and Habitat for Humanity, among others.
In order to create more affordable housing, you must first have less greed.
That’s what Mark Vengroff, from One Stop Housing, said when speaking on how to fix this issue.
“A lot of developments will come through, take advantage of some of the incentives to create a sprinkle of affordability, but they’ll maximize their rent in order to maximize their profit,” he said.
