When the Jets brought Jonathan Toews on board during the summer, the plan was to immerse him fully in the grind of NHL life.

Heading into Thursday night’s matchup with the Blackhawks, the 37-year-old has endured his first busy portion of the season, the team now on the other side of a five games in nine nights stretch.

“It’s not supposed to be easy,” Toews said. “That’s part of it, so that’s always been something that’s consistent throughout my career, and playing a lot of games, it’s going to be hard. You’ve got to work on taking care of yourself on your days off and train and recover as much as you can.”
