PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) - Over four pounds of crystal meth were found in a vehicle on Wednesday by the Sumrall Police Department during a routine traffic stop.
According to SPD, Officer Lee Davis pulled over a Kia Sportage around 9:32 p.m. for driving with no taillights.
When Officer Davis made contact with the driver, he noted a strong marijuana smell in the vehicle.
In the Kia were two adults, Deja Owens, driver, Velton Sims, passenger, and a two-year-old child in the back seat. The child was unrestrained.
Owens and Sims were asked to exit the vehicle for a body search. A small bag of what police say appeared to be marijuana was found on Sims. A probable cause search on the vehicle was then conducted.
While searching the vehicle, a yellow grocery bag was found on the back seat floor
