EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The Commission on Food Security is recommending that people who need assistance visit local food pantries in their area.
With November 1st and a cut to SNAP benefits looming, those with St. Vincent de Paul food pantry say they can only focus on the present.
“I can’t look towards that, I can just say what we’re doing,” Executive Director Dr. Ashley Newell said. “We’re very proud of the amount of people that we help, amount of people that we see.”
And some of those people they see, are there to receive the only meal they’ll eat that day.
“That’s the only way I’ve got to be able to feed my daughter - is by coming to food banks like this because we don’t get the EBT or the food stamps no more to help us,” says Mary Smith, a food recipient. “So, this place, I’m gla
