It wasn’t pretty, but the Academy of Notre Dame volleyball team found a way Thursday night
The Irish outlasted rival Germantown Academy in five sets to advance to the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association championship next week.
Notre Dame took the first two sets 27-25 and 25-12, but GA battled back to even things up with 25-17 and 25-21 wins. Down 6-1 in the fifth, the Irish rallied to close it out 15-11.
Kayla Edginton led the way with 13 kills and three blocks, while Natalia Zelubowski racked up 18 kills.
The Irish face Springside Chestnut Hill Academy in Tuesday’s championship match at Germantown Academy. Notre Dame is vying for its second straight title.
