Pittsburgh Public Schools leaders took a deep dive Thursday into how a controversial school closure and reconfiguration plan could look citywide if implemented in the coming years.
Superintendent Wayne Walters during a meeting in the district’s Oakland administration building presented the Future-Ready Facilities Implementation Plan, which would guide a major overhaul of the district’s footprint, currently made up of 54 schools.
“The implementation plan is more than a document,” Mr. Walters said. “It is a road map for how we move forward together as a district, as a community and most importantly for our students.”
PPS is considering closing 12 schools, some of which would be reopened as other schools. Those include Allegheny 6-8, Arsenal PreK-5, Fulton PreK-5, King PreK-8, Linden PreK-
