New Delhi, Oct 31: Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw has approved a plan to develop 76 new passenger holding areas at various railway stations ahead of the 2026 festival season, inspired by the successful implementation at New Delhi Railway Station.

These modular holding areas will be constructed with local conditions in mind and are aimed at enhancing pre-boarding comfort.

The New Delhi facility can accommodate over 7,000 passengers, featuring designated zones for ticketing and equipped with amenities like toilets and ticket counters.

Additionally, during the festive seasons, Indian Railways operated extra trains and established a “War Room” for real-time management of passenger traffic and issues, demonstrating a robust system in place to handle inflows efficiently.
