SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Shreveport Police Department (SPD) says the narrative surrounding the city is often skewed, and they aim to present a clear picture of their ongoing efforts.
"We know the narrative about our city isn’t always fair - but we’re here to show you the real story."
The department goes on to say that one of their primary objectives has been tackling gun violence with the removal of firearms from individuals who possess them illegally.
According to SPD, illegally held firearms are the leading contributors to violent crime in the city.
"A firearm by itself isn’t dangerous, but in the hands of the wrong person, it can become deadly. That’s why in 2025 alone, SPD has seized nearly 1,000 illegally possessed firearms from our streets. The numbers don’t lie—progress
