COLUMBUS, Ohio — Up against a Halloween deadline, Ohio’s bipartisan redistricting commission introduced a new congressional map Thursday that could determine how the state is represented in Congress through 2031.
Under the state constitution, Ohio must enact new congressional districts before next year because the current map was adopted by Republicans without bipartisan support. The seven-member commission, made up of Republican and Democratic leaders, presented its first " working map ."
If approved, the map could give Republicans a better chance at winning two additional seats in next year’s midterm elections, while shifting one district more in favor of Democrats.
Republican State Rep. Brian Stewart, R-Ashville, who presented the map on behalf of the Ohio Redistricting Commission,
