A Fairfield man is facing sexual assault charges after he was accused of inappropriate touching juvenile players during two games where he was working as a softball umpire.
John Simone, 65, was recently arrested and charged with seven counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and seven counts of risk of injury to a minor, according to the Meriden Police Department .
The Meriden Police Department said it received a complaint in July about an umpire who was allegedly touching several juvenile softball players inappropriately over the course of two separate softball games.
The Special Crimes Unit was able to review game footage after a search warrant was granted and also conducted several interviews, according to police.
