CINCINNATI (WXIX) -Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced on Thursday that he would be approving millions of dollars in relief funds for Ohioans who could miss out on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program funds.
The United States Department of Agriculture said on October 27 that the funds would not be provided on November 1 due to the federal government shutdown. A lack of funds would leave thousands of Ohioans without food.
FOX 19 spoke with ETC Produce owner Tonsia Chavez, who operates a grocery store in Findlay Market and Walnut Hills. She said she’s troubled by the news.
“We’re going to have enough food, but it doesn’t seem like we’re going to have enough money,” she said.
