HARVEY, N.D. — North Dakota ranchers are pushing back against President Trump’s proposal to increase beef imports from Argentina to lower costs.
A rancher from Benson County claims the issue has been misrepresented and that the president may have overstepped his bounds.
The proposal has been widely criticized over the last few weeks, even from North Dakota Republicans such as U.S. House Rep. Julie Fedorchak and Sen. Kevin Cramer.
The rancher, Travis Maddock of Maddock Ranch Supply, said leaders in Washington need to discuss the matter further before making a decision that affects beef producers everywhere.
“Let's have a conversation about it, because we simply can't stand behind you in this particular case,” Maddock said.
